Frequently asked questions
Does converting JPG to PNG improve the quality?
No. Compression artefacts that already exist in the JPEG cannot be removed. What you gain is a lossless format that stays stable through future edits.
Why is the PNG file bigger than the JPG?
PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel rather than discarding detail. A JPG photo typically becomes 3–8 times larger as a PNG. Use PNG when stability matters and JPG when size matters.
Can I convert several JPG files at once?

Will the PNG have a transparent background?
Not automatically — the original JPEG simply has no transparency data. To remove a background you would need a dedicated background remover; this page converts the format faithfully.
Is there a file size limit?
Individual files up to 25 MB are supported, which covers most camera and phone photos.
